Review of Existing Policies and Procedures

Each practice should have a set of policies and procedures for several different aspects of the practice’s operations. There are both legal and practical reasons for maintaining these policies and procedures.

One of the best ways to help bring a new employee up to speed and make them a valuable asset to your practice is to provide them with the policies and procedures they need to know. When they are written, it will take less time from other staff in the practice to orient the new employee. Also, with clear and concise procedures, it is often easier for the employee to learn the correct way to perform certain tasks.

Maintaining personnel policies and procedures is one of the best ways to ensure you do not have employment-related lawsuits. Not only does the practice need to have the policies and procedures, but the practice needs to comply with its own policies and procedures.

Other reasons policies and procedures are important:

  • compliance

  • security of the practice’s revenue

  • assurance patient care is properly authorized

  • assurance that patient quality of care complaints are handled appropriately

iMed Group will review each existing policy to ensure that it complies with applicable laws and practices for the industry. Additionally, iMed will help the practice put the policies into a format that has proven effective for numerous companies throughout the country. The format allows for tracking the revisions of the policies, as well as helps to keep them in a logical order.

iMed Group will present your practice with a report listing the policies and procedures currently maintained by your practice. Recommendations for additional policies and procedures will be outlined. Comments and recommendations for changes will be made for each existing policy and procedure. Where the policies need specific legal review, iMed will assist the practice in obtaining the review from a reputable law firm who practices in the appropriate field of law.

Utilizing iMed Group to provide these services allows for a fresh look at your current policies and procedures. iMed has several experts who are able, as a team, to review the different policies, and can provide more effective input than you get from a generic computer program or book. Further, iMed Group is able to see where policies and procedures are needed to protect your practice from a wide array of problems as indicated above.
